About the Role
Hunter Engineering is looking for a skilled Designer/CAD Technician to produce high-quality civil engineering and surveying plans. This position offers the opportunity to work on diverse projects and develop technical expertise in site design and plan production.
Responsibilities
- Prepare civil engineering plans including grading, drainage, utility, and paving plans
- Create survey plats, exhibits, and legal descriptions
- Develop construction details and standard sheets
- Process field survey data and prepare base mapping
- Perform design calculations, earthwork calculations, and quantity takeoffs
- Coordinate with engineers and surveyors throughout design process
- Incorporate redline markups and address review comments
- Maintain drawing standards and template libraries
- Assist with 3D modeling and visualization
- Perform quality control checks on drawings
Requirements
- High school diploma required; Associate's degree or technical certification in CAD/Drafting preferred
- 3+ years of CAD production experience, preferably in civil engineering or surveying
- Advanced proficiency with AutoCAD and/or AutoCAD Civil 3D
- Strong understanding of civil engineering and surveying plan sets
- Ability to read and interpret engineering plans and specifications
- Excellent attention to detail and quality
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines
- Good communication skills and team-oriented mindset
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Trimble Business Center or other survey software
- Familiarity with GIS software
- Knowledge of local agency CAD standards and requirements
- Understanding of grading and drainage design principles
- Experience with utility coordination and plan preparation
