About the Role
Hunter Engineering offers a comprehensive Engineer Intern program designed to provide hands-on civil engineering experience across diverse projects. This position offers mentorship from licensed engineers and excellent preparation for a career in civil site design.
Responsibilities
- Contribute to pre-construction design, planning, and permitting
- Utilize AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and GIS to produce deliverables
- Draft design plans and create project documentation
- Conduct site visits and field observations under supervision
- Perform routine calculations for drainage, grading, and utilities
- Prepare reports, maps, and submittal packages
- Review plans for compliance with regulations
- Attend client meetings and project coordination calls
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary design teams
Requirements
- Currently enrolled in an ABET-accredited Civil Engineering program (junior or senior standing preferred)
- Strong academic record
- Solid understanding of civil engineering fundamentals
- Proficiency with AutoCAD; Civil 3D experience a plus
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Detail-oriented with good organizational skills
- Ability to work in office and field environments
- Valid driver's license
- Available to work full-time during summer and/or part-time during school year
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous internship or co-op experience in civil engineering
- Familiarity with hydrology, hydraulics, or geotechnical principles
- Knowledge of local design standards and regulations
- Experience with stormwater modeling or analysis software
