About the Role

Hunter Engineering is seeking a licensed Registered Land Surveyor (RLS) to lead surveying operations and provide professional oversight for diverse land development projects. This role offers the opportunity to work on significant commercial, industrial, and residential developments.

Responsibilities

  • Provide professional surveying services and stamp survey documents
  • Plan, coordinate, and oversee boundary, ALTA/NSPS, topographic, and construction surveys
  • Perform GPS and boundary surveys; operate total stations, GPS/GNSS receivers, and data collectors
  • Review and certify survey plats, legal descriptions, and technical reports
  • Prepare records of surveys, subdivision maps, and file land court documents
  • Manage survey crews and mentor junior surveyors
  • Conduct field reconnaissance and establish survey control
  • Interface directly with clients, attorneys, and regulatory agencies
  • Ensure compliance with state surveying laws and professional standards
  • Resolve boundary disputes and research complex title issues

Requirements

  • Current Registered Professional Land Surveyor (RLS/PLS) license required
  • Bachelor's degree in Surveying, Geomatics, or related field preferred
  • 5+ years of progressive surveying experience
  • Extensive knowledge of boundary law, surveying principles, and state regulations
  • Proficiency with surveying equipment (GPS/GNSS, total stations, data collectors)
  • Experience with Trimble, Leica, or similar survey equipment
  • Strong project management and leadership skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication abilities
  • Valid driver's license and ability to travel to project sites

Preferred Qualifications

  • Multi-state licensure
  • Experience with large-scale land development projects
  • Expert-level proficiency with AutoCAD Civil 3D and survey processing software
  • Professional affiliations (NSPS, state surveying associations)
